Deptford Solar PV and BESS

Project Overview

As part of the planning consultation, we are encouraging you to leave your feedback through the survey that can be found on our website (tab: Survey). This will remain open until the 17th of August and will give you the opportunity to shape our proposal.

Additionally, we would like to invite you to attend our face-to-face public consultation that will be held between 3pm – 7pm, Thursday the 20th of July 2023 at the Pyncombe Room, High Bickington Community Centre, during which team members and project specialists will be available to discuss the project.

Key benefits:
The proposed Deptford Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System(BESS) project will allow the generation, storage and release of energy for the entire grid. Contributing to local and national energy targets with additional benefits to include:

  • Solar PV generates electricity renewably, without emitting greenhouse gases or air pollutants.
  • Battery Storage will smooth out the variability associated with the delivery of solar, by storing excess energy when the sun is shining, and delivering it when the opposite is happening;
  • Battery Storage will ensure reliability and resilience of connection, by providing backup power during disruptions;
  • Battery storage reduces Environmental Impact via the integration of more solar because it enables electricity from distributed energy sources to be saved for a later, offsetting the need for building new pollution-emitting peak power plants;
